Meyer Natural Foods, Loveland, Colo., parent of Laura’s Lean Beef and Meyer Natural Angus, has announced a new strategy that will unite the two brands in one operational framework. While they previously ran as independent divisions, Meyer will bring them together to position itself as a one-stop solution for naturally raised beef, the company announced last week.

To celebrate Earth Day, April 22, DCI Cheese Co., Richfield, Wis., will give away eco-friendly canvas bags promoting its Organic Creamery cheeses. To become eligible for a free tote, consumers must provide proof of purchase from three Organic Creamery products and complete redemption forms available in promotional displays participating retailers will mount in specialty cheese sections from April 1 through May 3, or use Instant Redeemable coupons available on select Organic Creamery products.

Santa Anna, Calif.-based Stremicks Heritage Foods will relaunch its 8th Continent Soymilk brand in new carton packaging featuring bright sun graphics. To promote the relaunch, the company is inviting children to submit artwork in the 8th Continent Art Contest, an initiative that will include posting all submissions on www.8thcontinent.com and awarding 100 schools $1,000 in supplies for their art programs in recognition of student contributions.

Chile Lime Cheese DipnSpread from Rising Sun Farms, Phoenix, Ariz., won the top prize awarded for new products at the recent National Grocers Association convention in Las Vegas, the company announced. The product is part of a line Rising Sun Farms promotes as a dip for chips, shrimp and veggies but also as a spread for sandwiches and tortillas.
