Hussmann Corp, Bridgeton, Mo., and Trane Inc., Piscataway, N.J., teamed to help the Sprouts Farmer’s Market in Round Rock, Texas, gain gold certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s GreenChill organization. Hussmann Corp. contributed the Protocol refrigeration system, Excel display cases and Microchannel condensers to substantially reduce the store’s overall refrigerant charge and leak rates, while Trane, applied packaged HVAC units with an environmentally friendly R410 refrigerant to help qualify the new Sprouts store for the certification.
Partner and executive chef J. Scot Jones of VegiTerranean, the Akron, Ohio, restaurant owned by Pretenders rocker Chrissie Hynde, joined with Garden Protein, Vancouver, B.C., makers of gardein meat substitute products, to provide home cooks with a Valentine's Day dinner menu dubbed Love at First Bite. Free of animal or dairy ingredients, it included artichoke and tomato bisque, pine nut and basil crusted gardein chick'n scallopini over braised escarole blood orange beurre blanc, and hot Italian banana peppers stuffed with fresh herb risotto and soy mozzarella with fresh basil lime sauce, the meat substitutes maker stated.
Sargento Foods, Plymouth, Wis., announced the promotions of Shawn Marcom to vice president of procurement and Gary Vissers to vice president of demand planning. Additionally, Sargento named Tim Ross sales manager of the year within the Sargento Food Service Division.
